Disaster recovery existed as an operational requirement, but only realistic testing could show whether systems, cloud dependencies, APIs, suppliers, procedures and people would behave as expected during a real failure.

The important result was not a paper assurance that DR existed. Testing exposed real Azure/API and supplier/platform issues, those issues were remediated, and recovery was subsequently exercised again against defined recovery objectives.
